Connector Insertion Tool

General
The Universal Pneumatic Press unit is used for precisely installing connectors onto the edge of a circuit board. An interchangeable customized connector block and tooling pin plate allows this fixture to be customized to fit any circuit board, or circuit board panel under 15" long by 10.5" wide.

Electrical
Dual side mounted momentary switches provide safety in actuating the air cylinder. All electronics and pneumatics are completely enclosed safely inside the fixture. The fixture may be used stand alone as described, or adapted for high volume conveyor type applications.

Mechanical
All aluminum parts are clear anodized. Crossed Roller Slide Bearings are used for precise connector alignment during insertion. Circuit board tooling pin locations are drilled in an interchangeable 10.75x7.475x1/2 FR-4 plate for holding the PC Board. These interchangeable plates provide a quick and inexpensive way to customize the connector press for many different boards you may have in production. A smaller aluminum block is custom machined to fit the connector. This connector block and tooling pin plate are then located by standard tooling pins on the fixture. The fixture provides connector alignment repeatability less than +/-0.002".
