TE-6000 Flex Board Test Fixture
Sometimes a picture is not worth 1000 words. The TE-6000 double sided pneumatic bed of nails style test fixture is an engineering marvel that a simple picture could not describe. This exploded CAD view shows the internal intricacies and rugged design. This fixture is designed specifically for testing flex style circuit boards. The TE-6000 fixture provides double sided probing access. This fixture is a 3 plate design. There is a top bed of nails plate, a middle holding plate, and a bottom bed of nails plate. The flex board is placed inside the fixture on top of the middle holding plate. The top cover is lowered to sandwich the flex board between the top plate and mid plate. When the pneumatic cylinder is actuated, the dual cam actuated mechanism pulls the top bed of nails plate down and the bottom bed of nails plate up. This compresses the flex board under test against the test pins on both the upper and lower plates.

Wiring and Customization
Signal and data pins are wire wrapped from the test pin to a connector array located in the frame shown underneath the fixture. This connector array is then attached to the test engine. Higher speed signals, and noise sensitive signals are wired with twisted pairs or coaxial cable. All wiring is neatly bundled for easy troubleshooting and modification. Cable lengths are kept as short as possible to maintain high performance.

Test Plate Customization
Extreme care is taken in the manufacture of all plates. All plates are precision ground, buffed to a high gloss, center drilled, then finally, drilled to an accuracy of 1/10 of a thousandth with carbide drill bits running at 20,000 RPM under high pressure coolant. Receptacles are then inserted and swaged with a custom built CNC machine providing an extremely high degree of perpendicularity exceeding 1/1000" per linear foot.
