TEST ELECTRONICS TE-3000 Test Fixture
High Performance Lever Actuated PC Board Test Fixture
TE-3000 PC Board Test
Fixture
Test Electronics will customize the TE-3000 bed of nails style test fixture
for your circuit board and test application. Next, add a desktop or rack mount computer,
plug in the National Instruments Virtual Instrumentation boards and software. This will
create a complete full performance cost efficient functional, in-circuit, or bare board
tester.
Simple 3 step operation
1. Insert the circuit board under
test in the tester
2. Close the Clear Lexan top
cover
3. Pull the lever.
Spring loaded test pins mounted on an internal plate raise to make contact with the
circuit board under test.
Front View
Shown here is the front view. We pride ourselves in our neatly designed front panel
layouts. We emphasize our Understand-it-at-a-glance motto for intuitive easy to learn
operation.
Mechanical
The tester is comprised of 3 plates. The top hold-down plate, the surface plate, and the
internal plate.
1. The top plate swings up to allow a
circuit board to be inserted.
2. The surface plate holds the tooling pins,
and shrouds the spring loaded test pins. This shrouding improves the pointing accuracy
above the pins ratings.
3. The internal plate holds the spring
loaded test pins and presses them against the board under test when the handle is pulled.
4. Patented low cost stainless steel anti
sway bar system keeps the plates parallel within an amazing 0.0001" / linear inch.
Inside View
This view with the bottom panel removed shows the easy accessibility provided in our
fixture designs. On first glance these fixtures may appear as a wiring rats nest. These
larger wires are just a few high current carrying wires that must be routed as direct as
possible and away from the signal lines. On closer inspection you will notice that there
are circuit boards behind the front panel meters, LEDs, and switches, and circuit boards
also back the rear panel connectors. Ribbon cable is used whenever possible. An internal
power supply powers the board under test. Low speed signal and data pins are wire wrapped
to the appropriate rear panel connectors where they are cabled out to an insrument board.
Higher speed signals, and noise sensitive signals are wired with twisted pairs or coaxial
cable. All wiring is neatly bundled for easy troubleshooting and modification. Extreme
care is taken in the manufacture of all plates. All plates are precision ground, buffed to
a high gloss, center drilled, then finally, drilled to an accuracy of 0.0001" with
carbide drill bits running at 20,000 RPM under high pressure coolant. Next, the
receptacles are inserted and swaged with a precision CNC machine providing an extremely
high degree of perpendicularity exceeding 1/1000" per linear foot.
